What in the World? | Blog round-up #1

It’s been a busy week this week with the anticipation building for Christmas day. Debra has been saving abandoned Santas across the land. Do support her on her mission to give homeless and abandoned Santas a home this Christmas. Little Miss Litberry has been busying herself making a picture book advent calendar (what a great idea for book lovers! Bet you wish you thought of this yourself right?), gluten-free play dough and glittery festive slime. You’ll never need to buy this stuff again! Rachel at Records of the Ohanzee has been spotted wearing the cutest (and most functional) pair of heated smores slippers, an early Christmas pressie. Worth a look for the cuteness factor alone.

There has been a lot of useful advice for writers on the blogs this week. Silvia has given us some tips from great authors, all presented in a beautifully creative infographic that she found. Infographic. Don’t you just love whoever coined the word? You’re getting some great advice there. Luther has shared his writing process, specifically in relation to second drafts. Everyone has a process don’t they? World of Horror has been a font of knowledge and full of advice for writing dialogue and erotica this week. No matter the genre, he’s got the advice. The bookworm girls have told us why they enjoy blogging, in their enthusiastic and ‘stream of consciousness’ style. Nafiza has reviewed the most adorable graphic travel memoir that I have ever seen. Artist Florent Chavouet documents his travels on Manabeshima Island Japan in the most charming way I have seen. Of course a Nippon-ophile like myself would love this. Miriam has been Zumba-ing and doing the Snoopy dance this week. I feel so sluggish since I stopped going to the gym over the last few months. Maybe it’s a new routine that I need! Abbie Lu has been cosying up to a good book and a nice cup of coffee. I like the idea of reading from the warmth and comfort of my flat on a rainy, windy day.

Talin has observed how your obsession with your screens may cause you to miss out on life’s great experiences. Can you go for more than an hour without checking your Twitter stream? I learnt the amazing news that Michael at Afroculinaria has become a TED fellow. How amazing is that? Congratulations Michael! I look forward to watching your talk in 2016. Ana Spoke  interviewed Matthew FitzSimmons, author of the short drop and one of the November Kindle First offerings. I only wish I’d chosen to read it now! The Seeds for Life has noted the importance of an ongoing education, taking every opportunity to learn something new from the vast amount of information that is out there in web or physical form. It got me thinking about the last time that I visited my local library. Seb Dani has been his usual inspirational self this week, posting about boosting your confidence and dealing with negative situations. Craig has been reflecting on the things he thinks that he needs to improve. I think that there are also things that I would like to change in my own life so this was a great post that got me self-evaluating this week. Kongomum has shared her experiences with the BCG vaccine and the things that she wished she knew about it when getting her baby vaccinated. Amy has been looking effortlessly fashionable and cosy at Vintage reflections. I am in love with that denim dress! Sarah at Heartstring Eulogies has summed up heartbreak in another thought-provoking micro poem.

I love looking at your recipe and cookery posts. Apart from making me incredibly hungry, they are great for ideas for my own cooking! Crumbles and Kale has served up a simple yet intriguing dish of black bean pasta with creamy mushrooms this week. I’ve never heard of black bean pasta before but it sounds tummy friendly (from reading the comments). Anything that doesn’t bloat my tummy is a welcome dish in my place. Simply Delish has been baking again. This time sea salt chocolate chip cookies. Nuff said! Don’t even get me started on the cheesecake recipes.  Mio at Mio’s hot food has shared another delicious recipe; Original Italian Carbonara. He’s keeping it simple and delicious. Ideen has been drinking gingerbread chai and making me feel all Chrismassy. Check out the cute packaging! And finally, Tammy Twinkle has been baking again, this time making zimetschtärn, or cinnamon stars, that looked so yummy I had to try making them today. For a first attempt, I’m pretty pleased with how they taste, except I’m not sure what they are supposed to taste like. Anyway, Mrs Twinkle is the boss, so I will let her be the judge!

Phew! You’ve been busy this week posting some fantastic content haven’t you? If I haven’t mentioned you in this post, it’s just because I had to draw the line somewhere. I could go on for days.
